A former Hindu Temple in Wirral could be transformed into a dog play and training centre, according to the latest planning applications submitted to Wirral Council. The site at 49-51 Eltham Green served as a Hindu Temple from 2017 to 2024 and has been vacant since March 2024. The proposed facility would include an indoor play and training area for dogs, as well as a rentable grooming room. If approved, the centre is expected to generate business for nearby companies.
Ice Cream Shop and Coffee Shop Proposed for Former Toilets
Plans have also been submitted to convert the former Bennett's Lane public toilets on Meols Parade into two commercial units: a coffee shop and an ice cream shop. Each unit would feature its own sales counter, serving area, and disabled toilet. The proposal aims to bring new retail options to the area.
Hot Food Takeaway in Liscard
A vacant former barber shop at 29 Seaview Road in Liscard town centre could become a hot food takeaway. The application, which includes a change of use and installation of a kitchen extraction system, would replace the former Omer's Barber Shop.
New Stand for Heswall Football Club
Heswall Football Club has submitted plans for a new spectator stand at its home ground. The existing timber and scaffold stand would be replaced with a purpose-designed stand made from a converted shipping container, capable of holding 63 spectators.
Former Gym to Become 24-Bed HMO
A derelict former gym at 63 Argyle Street in Birkenhead, previously known as Rocky's Gym, could be brought back into use as a 24-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO). The application seeks approval for the conversion, aiming to provide residential accommodation.
