Gardeners tackling fallen leaves and debris this autumn are praising a cordless Spear and Jackson gadget that combines a leaf blower, vacuum and mulcher in one. The Spear and Jackson Cordless 3-in-1 Leaf Blower and Vac - 36V is available for £130 from Argos.
Features and performance
The cordless tool offers blowing and vacuuming speeds of up to 288km/h, with variable speed settings allowing gardeners to adjust the power depending on the job. Its built-in mulch and shred function compresses leaves and other suitable garden debris as they're collected, helping make better use of the 40-litre collection bag before it needs emptying.
The cordless design means there's no cable to trail around the garden, while two lithium batteries and a fast dual-port charger are included to help keep jobs moving. Weighing 6kg, the gadget comes with twin tubes optimised for its different functions and is backed by a three-year manufacturer's guarantee.
User reviews and alternatives
The Spear and Jackson Cordless 3-in-1 Leaf Blower and Vac has racked up a high rating on Argos' site. One person said: "Easy to assemble. Easy charging. Great design. Great suction even at a low setting!"
Another added: "Good quality, big, heavy and robust! A bit cumbersome but works really well for picking up leaves and also grass cuttings after edging grass."
A third person wrote: "I bought this about three months ago. We have mostly pebbles and slabs in our garden. It is impossible to sweep so we thought we would try the three-in-one leaf blower. It is the perfect solution for this kind of garden. It makes light work of removing leaves, twigs and any debris. I would fully recommend this product. Being cordless is also a big bonus."
Some people disagreed, however, as one person said: "It's a bit heavy but does the job."
Another added: "Really easy to put together. I used it a few times and it does the job. Really nice. I have not used the vacuum part yet and I would have preferred to just maybe flip a switch between the blow or vacuum, but it's very powerful."
