Clarkson's Farm Series Five Set for Festive Surprise Despite 'Conveyor Belt of Misery'

Jeremy Clarkson's farming show is set to return next month with a special festive element, according to producer Andy Wilman. The new series of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video will feature a Christmas-themed pub scene that Wilman described as reminiscent of a Vicar of Dibley special.

Wilman revealed on the Extraordinary Life Stories podcast that the highlight of the upcoming series is a scene where Clarkson meets with his advisor Charlie to discuss building a Santa's grotto. 'That is the best scene I've ever, ever seen them do,' Wilman said, adding that the editor agreed it was 'the best television to make ever'.

The series, which wrapped filming in October, has been described by Clarkson as a 'conveyor belt of misery' due to personal health setbacks, difficult weather, and the economic impact of Rachel Reeves' budget on farming. In his column for The Sun, Clarkson wrote that the past 12 months have been so challenging he had to 'send the cameras away' for a break.

Wilman explained that the show's deal with Amazon is on a rolling basis, and each series is treated as a bonus. 'If at the end of a series, he can think of something he wants to do for another series, then he'll do it,' Wilman said, noting that Clarkson's Farm is 'his baby'.

Production for series six is currently halted as Clarkson focuses on his other ventures, including a brewery, a shop, a pub, and hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and its spin-off. Despite the setbacks, Clarkson confirmed that farming continues, with Kaleb Cooper already out in his tractor.
