You may think you have already perfected the technique of cooking sausages. After all, you have been preparing them for years and are completely happy with the result. But with just a few small tweaks, you could potentially be producing some of the best bangers you have ever sampled.
Butchers Share Their Favorite Method
The butchers at Lepp Farm Market disclose that their "hands-down favourite way to cook sausages" is on the barbecue. However, for everyday cooking, they have revealed the ideal method to adopt. It does involve two phases, but "you won't be disappointed by the results." They maintained that sausages cooked this way were "some of the best they'd ever had," reports the Mirror.
Pan-frying sausages seems to be the most commonly used approach, yet it does not impress the professionals. While it might appear somewhat unconventional, the butchers recommend boiling sausages to make them "juicier and tastier."
How to Boil Sausages for Better Flavor
Simply place the raw sausages into a pot and cover them in cold water, ensuring there is approximately an inch of water above them. Set your hob to a medium heat and bring it up to a gentle simmer. Avoid piercing the sausages or cooking them at a rolling boil, as "you'll lose all those tasty juices."
Once you have achieved a simmer, continue cooking for just two to three additional minutes. This short cooking duration is adequate to bring the core temperature to a safe 160 degrees. Drain the sausages and discard the water. At this stage, you can cut them as they are for a casserole or pasta dish; they are thoroughly cooked and ready to eat.
Admittedly, they are not the most attractive colour, but this can be easily remedied if preferred. Heat one tablespoon of cooking oil in a frying pan over a medium heat, and cook the slices or whole sausages "just long enough until they're golden brown."
