Northumberland Wildlife Trust Hosts Big Wild Saturday to Disconnect from Digital Life
Big Wild Saturday: Disconnect from Digital Life with Nature Activities

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is inviting adults to move away from their digital lives with a weekend of activities as part of the Wildlife Trusts' annual 30 Days Wild UK nature challenge. The event will take place at Northumberlandia on Saturday, 20th June, from 10am to 4pm.

Event Highlights

The regional charity will join forces with the other 45 Wildlife Trusts across the country to host a number of fantastic events aimed at bringing people closer to local nature and improving their health and wellbeing. Frances Smiles, Community Events Coordinator at Northumberland Wildlife Trust, said: "Whether you live in a busy city centre or in the countryside, wildlife can be found everywhere if you spend just a moment looking for it."

Activities on Offer

  • Outdoor Yoga: From 10:45am to 11:30am, at £6 per person.
  • Mindfulness in Nature: Led by Michael Atkinson at £3 per person, designed to calm the mind and soothe the body.
  • Foraging Walk: Gemma Gee, known as Cramlington Forager, will guide participants to find edible plants, at £3 per person.
  • Forest Bathing and Nature Crafting: Twice at 11am and 1pm, led by the Trust's Community and Nature team.
  • Outdoor Sound Bath: At 1pm with Alison Scanlan, using instruments and silence for relaxation, £6 per person.
  • Herbal Walk and Talk: Davina Hopkins will discuss historical herbal remedies, at £3 per person.

Frances added: "Connecting to the natural world is the first step to caring for it and playing a part in protecting it. It starts with the simple things—listening to morning birdsong, hearing hedgerows humming with life, or even just pausing to watch the clouds drift across the sky. This June, join the national 30 Days Wild family and have some fun."
