Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has delighted her followers with a heartwarming farming update, revealing how her ten-year-old daughter Clemmy is developing impressive new hands-on skills during their ambitious property renovation project.
Clemmy Owen Takes on Electrical Work
The shepherdess posted to Instagram with photographs showing young Clemmy tackling electrical work at their Anty Johns farmhouse in Swaledale, close to the family's Ravenseat Farm. Amanda emphasised that these practical experiences provide transferable life skills that will serve her daughter throughout her future.
Ambitious Renovation Project Continues
The Owen family originally purchased the dilapidated 1800s property back in 2020, a ruin with a collapsed roof that has required years of meticulous restoration work. Named after previous owner Anthony John Clarkson, the Anty Johns farmhouse has become the focus of their renovation efforts, documented in the series Our Farm Next Door.
Amanda has now relocated her family of nine into the property, though considerable work remains to complete the ambitious venture she's undertaking with ex-partner Clive Owen. The renovation has proven to be a substantial undertaking for the television personality and her large family.
Valuable Life Lessons on the Farm
Captioning her Instagram post, Amanda wrote: "Practical hands on experiences, nurturing natural inquisitiveness and the satisfaction of being able to problem solve and find solutions. That's what life on the farm provides and those skills are transferable and needed in all walks of life."
She added: "A bit of patience is all that is needed. It takes nothing but a bit of time to ignite their enthusiasm (and the burner hopefully)."
Newfound Appreciation for Trades
The television star confessed that witnessing professional tradespeople at work has been enlightening, giving her family a renewed appreciation for skilled professions. "The renovation of Anty Johns is a huge undertaking and seeing the professional trades at work has been enlightening," Amanda explained. "The level of skill and understanding it takes in the trades is often overlooked so we have a newfound appreciation of what it takes to be a professional plumber, electrician, builder, joiner, carpenter, plasterer."
She continued with characteristic Yorkshire humility: "Our lal' efforts are nowt in comparison, we know our limitations but who knows when that spark of enthusiasm might be the start of a new vocation for one of the children."
Fans Show Overwhelming Support
Followers quickly filled the comment section with heartwarming messages of encouragement and praise for the Owen family's approach to practical education. One supporter remarked: "Brilliant! Your kids will always know what to do, how to fix things, how to make use of natural resources and survive!"
Another posted: "What an amazing family! Clemmie your a little star well done your the best." while a third praised: "That's brilliant. Those skills are for life. I wish other young people could see how important they are. Well done Clemie."
Meanwhile, another fan commented: "There are no ends to you and your family's talents. And it's great that they all want to learn these life skills."
