Meet the 33 dogs waiting to find loving homes after a stay in North East kennels. Amigo, Buddy and Ronnie are just some of the dogs waiting to find their forever homes following a lonely stay in kennels. Some of these dogs can spend months in kennels. Pixie, Tank and Loki are some of the longest-serving residents at Dogs Trust in Darlington at the moment and have featured in many of ChronicleLive's pet rehoming appeals. Staff working at the charity would love for them to find their happy ever after.
Taking on a pet is a big commitment, so it is important to do your research before adopting an animal. But for those who are able to commit to offering a pet a home can receive a lifetime of love in return. To help give all dogs a fair chance of finding their forever home, Dogs Trust applications allow people to share what type of dog they're looking for. People can add up to four favourites to their application to give the charity an idea of the dogs an applicant likes, so they can consider you for similar dogs. Details and enquiries about the dogs currently living at Dogs Trust in Darlington can be found by visiting their website here.
Amigo
Amigo the Lurcher Cross is 13 years old and is looking for a family who have plenty of love to give to an older chap. Staff at Darlington Dogs Trust say he is young at heart and is still happy to go for adventures just as much as snoozing in the house. He is quite an independent boy and will happily take himself off for a sunbathe in the garden. Amigo did previously struggle when seeing dogs out and about however he has mellowed in his older age and is quite happy as long as dogs give him his space. He is completely house trained and his foster carers describe him as a wonderful house guest. A garden would be lovely for him to stretch his legs and laze around in. Narla the Saluki is aged between one and two years old. Staff at Darlington Dogs Trust say she is a sweet girl, looking to build confidence with everyday life situations with the help of a loving family. She has already shown staff that when given time, she’ll lean in for affection and can have a playful nature with other dogs. Narla would be best suited to a pet-free home and with older teenagers. Walking areas free (as much as possible) from other dogs and busy roads are preferred as Narla can react and become frustrated around these. Adopters will need to do some further training for this.

Buddy will need someone around initially to help him settle, with his leaving time introduced gradually.
