Paranormal experts have warned that the blistering heat engulfing the UK this week could result in people being possessed by killer demons. According to expert Robert Pulme, supernatural entities may take partial or full control of a person's body or consciousness as temperatures continue to rise across Europe.
Demons Thrive in Heat
Pulme explained that demons are historically associated with intense heat, drawing on the environment for strength and energy. "The hotter it is, the more powerful they become," he said. He noted that temperatures often drop when spirits are around because they pull all the heat and energy into themselves.
Heat Dome Phenomenon
Europe's most recent heat dome event in May has left top weather experts concerned about the future. Peter Thorne, director of the ICARUS Climate Research Centre at Maynooth University in Ireland, stated that climate change is making such phenomena more likely. "Many of the records being set, particularly in the U.K. and France, are mind-bogglingly crazy," he said.
A heat dome occurs when high-pressure atmospheric conditions move slowly and sink over a region, forming a "cap" that traps hot air and makes temperatures unbearable, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Signs of Demonic Possession
"Demons thrive in the heat," Pulme reiterated, warning that intense heat could create conditions where harmful spirits thrive. Fellow expert Michael Murchie described demonic possession as a "terrifying sight," though he acknowledged that some cases may be mental illness. However, he emphasized that certain cases with professional witnesses cannot be easily discounted.
Murchie advised that if someone suspects possession, they should contact a trained exorcist priest. "Due to the increase in demonic possession in recent times, more priests are being trained in exorcism every year," he wrote. Signs of possession include odd behavior, negative reactions to prayer, night terrors, speaking in a different voice, or suddenly acquiring new skills such as weapon proficiency. "If anyone you know starts showing these behaviours, they probably need help, and quickly," he added.
