According to Politico, executives viewed Al-Khelaifi as a potential force to replace Infantino following widespread criticism resulting from this summer's World Cup in North America, as well as the body's plans to sell portions of commercial rights.
Al-Khelaifi's stance
However, Al-Khelaifi has no interest in entering the race. A source close to him told RMC Sport: "Nasser has absolutely no ambition, no intention, nor any interest in this role at FIFA. He will continue to quietly support all global and European football institutions."
