MSP Jenny Young has praised the work of Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian after a recent visit to its office in Livingston. The Central Scotland and Lothians West MSP met with the team to learn about the key services they provide in the local area.
Services and Partnerships
Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian offers free, independent, and impartial advice. It works in partnership with local organisations to improve outcomes for residents and strives to influence policies and practices that affect people's lives.
Jenny was welcomed by Project and Partnership Lead Craig Coupar and Advice and Impact Lead Ann Taylor. CEO Louise Crozier thanked the MSP for taking time to meet staff, hear about challenges faced by the bureau, and learn about the impact of its work.
MSP's Remarks
Jenny said: “It was great to meet with colleagues at CAB to hear more about the vital work they do helping local people on a daily basis. Money worries and financial trouble can happen to anyone, and it was clear when speaking to Craig and Ann that the whole team is dealing with complex problems and doing their very best to help.”
She added: “What CAB are doing here in West Lothian is a great example of why the third sector is so important and why, crucially, our third sector here in Scotland needs to be funded properly if it is going to continue that vital work for years to come. I’m really grateful to Craig and Ann for their warm welcome and I look forward to engaging with them and helping in any way that I can as an MSP in the next five years.”
CEO's Perspective
CAB West Lothian Chief Executive Louise Crozier added: “The visit provided an opportunity to warmly welcome Jenny to Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian and to share insight into the vital support we deliver across the local community. It highlighted the importance of accessible, impartial advice services in helping people navigate financial and social challenges, particularly during periods of increased demand. The visit also provided a valuable opportunity to highlight our need for multi-year funding to ensure services remain sustainable for those who rely on them most.”
