A homeless man has been left speechless after a kind stranger gave him a free haircut, dramatically transforming his appearance. The act of kindness was carried out by Joshua Santiago, a barber from Philadelphia, US, who has been travelling the country since 2017 offering free haircuts to those who cannot afford them through his project Empowering Cuts.
In a TikTok video shared by Santiago, the homeless man is seen with messy curly hair and facial hair before the barber sets to work. Santiago shaves off the top of the curls, trims the beard, and gives a clean shave to the sides and face. After finishing, he hands the man a mirror to admire his new look.
The transformation has gone viral, amassing 5,400 likes and hundreds of comments on the platform. One user wrote: 'This is someone's baby. Thank you for caring enough to make them feel again.' Another commented: 'Thank you for giving people back their dignity.'
Santiago, who has 471,300 followers on TikTok, regularly shares such transformations. The video comes after another barber, known as Richmond Barber, also made headlines for a dramatic haircut to impress his girlfriend on their six-year anniversary.
