The Sky Club Wheel in Eastbourne, a 118ft tall observation wheel on the seafront, has closed permanently, seven weeks earlier than expected. The attraction, which opened in April 2025, was due to operate daily until September 6 but shut on July 20.
Closure due to commercial considerations
Eastbourne Borough Council stated the closure was due to "commercial considerations." Owners confirmed the attraction will not reopen. In a social media statement, a spokesperson said: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Sky Club Eastbourne has now closed permanently."
Apology and thanks to visitors
The spokesperson added: "We’d like to sincerely apologise to everyone who was hoping to visit us again before the end of the season. Unfortunately, we had to close earlier than expected." They thanked visitors, residents, businesses, and staff for their support, saying: "Although this chapter has come to an end, the memories we’ve made in Eastbourne will stay with us forever."

Eastbourne offers a three-mile seafront promenade, Victorian Pier, and Bandstand with summer concerts. Visitors can also explore Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters Country Park, the Towner Gallery (Museum of the Year 2020), and theatres in the Devonshire Quarter.
