Ethical porn site Ersties has reported a significant increase in requests for content featuring butt cracks, with viewers making increasingly specific demands about how this body part is revealed on screen.
Rise in Niche Requests
According to Cat Lygate, head of creative, community and education at Ersties, 'people's preferences are becoming increasingly detailed and personal.' She noted that a decade ago viewers searched for broad categories, whereas today they seek very specific moments, body parts or camera angles.
Some comments received by Ersties include requests for 'more playful food-themed content that incorporates butt cracks' and for performers to 'undress more slowly so there's more time to appreciate the butt crack before the scene gets going.'
Psychological Appeal
Ersties attributes the trend to delayed gratification, as a glimpse of the crack acts as a tease. Psychosexual and relationship therapist Sarah Berry told Metro that it extends from a long-held fascination with bums. 'Bums have been lusted after for as long as humans have been around,' she said, adding that the return of 90s fashion, including low-rise jeans, may be contributing to the 'builder's bum' having a moment.
On Reddit, users expressed mixed views. One user wrote, 'A visible bum crack drives me crazy,' while another said, 'sometimes, it's a glimpse at the forbidden.' A third user commented, 'Butts wouldn't be sexy without the crack – it'd just an ass-marshmallow.' Not everyone is convinced, however; one user described the sight as 'never attractive because it evokes sloppiness instead of sexiness.'
