The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra, a collective of Ukrainian musicians formed during the war, delivered a powerful performance at St Paul's Cathedral in London on Tuesday evening. The concert, part of their international tour, drew a full house and received a standing ovation.
A Blend of Classical and Folk
The programme featured works by Beethoven and Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk, alongside traditional folk songs arranged for orchestra. The musicians, many of whom have been displaced by the conflict, performed with emotional intensity that resonated through the cathedral's acoustics.
Conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson led the ensemble with precision, drawing out both the lyrical and dramatic elements of the pieces. The audience responded with prolonged applause, with several attendees visibly moved by the performance.
Tour Continues
The orchestra's tour continues with dates in Manchester, Edinburgh, and Cardiff before heading to European capitals. The London concert was presented in partnership with the British Council and the Ukrainian Institute.
