Hopper, a three-legged domestic shorthair cat, is desperately seeking a forever home after being abandoned as a tiny kitten outside Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Despite her disability, she is full of affection and loves nothing more than cuddling up to people.
Abandoned as a Kitten
Hopper was just two months old when she was cruelly left in a carrier outside Battersea's gates. The animal charity, which has been rescuing animals for over 160 years, examined the frightened kitten and discovered a severe leg injury likely present from birth.
The injury caused her pain and left her vulnerable to repeated infections, forcing vets to amputate the affected leg. Hopper has since made an incredible recovery and refuses to let having three legs define her.
Playful and Affectionate Personality
Hopper races around her pen with remarkable speed, happily chasing her favorite ping pong ball and pouncing on knitted toy mice. But it's when the games are over that her loving personality shines. She adores people and will happily climb onto a welcoming lap for strokes, chin scratches, and as many cuddles as she can get.
According to Battersea, Hopper absolutely loves attention and is always looking for someone to fuss over her. The charity hopes someone will see beyond her three legs and give her the loving home she has never had.
Ideal Home and How to Help
Hopper would thrive with a family with children of any age who can provide plenty of playtime, companionship, and affection. She also needs access to a secure private garden in a quiet location so she can safely explore outdoors at her own pace.
In 2024, Battersea re-homed 3,531 animals, never turning away a dog or cat due to age, breed, medical condition, or behavioral history. Anyone interested in offering Hopper a forever home can contact Battersea's rehoming team at cat.rehoming@battersea.org.uk or visit the charity's website for more information.
