Organisers of The Cure's headline concert at Blackweir Live in Cardiff have introduced extra measures to help fans cope with extreme heat, as temperatures are forecast to reach 34°C and the Met Office has issued a red weather warning for parts of Wales.
Increased Water and Fan Allowances
Originally, ticketholders were permitted to bring one sealed 500ml bottle of water. That allowance has now been doubled to two bottles per person. Additionally, the number of refillable plastic bottles allowed has increased from one to two. Mini hand fans are also now permitted inside the venue.
Free water refill stations will be available across the site, and additional shaded areas have been set up. An enhanced welfare team will be present to provide support throughout the event.
Entry Advice and Bag Policy
Organisers advise fans to arrive early to avoid queues and to have their digital tickets downloaded onto their phones before arrival. The bag policy remains strict: no bag larger than an A4 sheet of paper will be permitted, and all bags are subject to search.
Show Confirmed Despite Weather Warning
As of Tuesday, June 23, organisers confirmed the concert would go ahead as planned. The Met Office's red extreme heat warning, originally set to expire at 9pm on Thursday, has been extended until 11pm, with temperatures potentially approaching 40°C in some areas.
Travel Advice
Fans using public transport are urged to leave plenty of time and check for updates regularly. Elsewhere in Cardiff, Lily Allen is performing at the Utilita Arena tonight, adding to the city's busy evening.
