Sir Chris Hoy Praises 'Best Coffee in Arran' at Caffeinated Pig

Olympic Legend Shouts Out Small Business

Sir Chris Hoy, the six-time Olympic gold medalist, has taken to social media to praise a small coffee business on the Isle of Arran. The cyclist posted a photo of a takeaway coffee cup from The Caffeinated Pig on his Instagram story, telling his 228,000 followers that it offers the 'best coffee in Arran'.

The Caffeinated Pig, known for its eye-catching pink truck in the Brodick area, serves a selection of drinks, pastries, and locally sourced ice cream. Owner Scott Burris was thrilled by the endorsement, reposting Chris's snap and writing: 'Seeing one of the icons of your sport rock-up to buy coffee, makes you glow inside. LEGEND!!!'

Customer Praise Matches Chris's Assessment

Other customers have also praised the coffee truck on social media. One Facebook user noted: 'My partner had a couple of coffees while we were over on Arran and thoroughly enjoyed them. We are back on the 16th June and hope to see you in Brodick.' Another echoed Chris's assessment, writing: 'Quite possibly the best coffee on the island... and beyond!' A third added: 'Great coffee, lovely quirky wee van.'

Hoy's Return to the Spotlight

When not enjoying coffee, Chris Hoy is preparing for his role as presenter and expert on TNT Sports for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The BBC will not air the Games this year; TNT Sports is the official live broadcast partner, requiring a subscription for live coverage. The 54-year-old is returning to public view after stepping back two years ago following his stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis in October 2024.

Scott Young, EVP WBD Sports Europe, said: 'He will be everywhere, not just at the cycling. It’s one of our reasons for having our studio based up in Glasgow. So that people like Chris Hoy can not only be in the studio there and telling the story of the Games, as we lead up to track cycling, but then be in the venue and on the ground and able to help bring that to life. This was his decision. And we fully support any other decision he needs to make (health-wise) during the Games.'

Opening Ceremony and Relay

Chris Hoy will also participate in the opening ceremony at the OVO Hydro on July 23. He was the first person to carry the Scotland baton for the King's baton relay in March 2025. Hoy expressed his excitement: 'It is an absolute honour to attend the opening of Glasgow 2026 with the King and Queen. A home Games is always a special occasion and I have so many wonderful memories from competing in the Commonwealth Games myself. I have no doubt the city of Glasgow will yet again be a superb host to what promises to be an exciting event and I very much look forward to being a part of it.'

The opening ceremony will air on Channel 5, which will also broadcast daily highlights of the 10-day event.
