Ahir Shah has won the Edinburgh comedy award for his show Saturday Night, the festival’s top prize for live comedy.

The comedian’s performance was praised by judges for its sharp writing and emotional depth, exploring themes of family, politics and the meaning of Saturday night.
Shah, who has been a regular at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, received the award at a ceremony on Wednesday.
Judges’ Comments
The judging panel described Saturday Night as “a masterclass in standup comedy, blending personal storytelling with political insight in a way that feels both urgent and timeless”.
Shah said he was “absolutely thrilled” to win, adding that the show was “a love letter to the people I come from and the night that made them”.
Other Nominees
The award, formerly known as the Foster’s Edinburgh comedy award, is one of the most prestigious in British comedy. Previous winners include Hannah Gadsby, James Acaster and Bridget Christie.
Other nominees for this year’s prize included Lara Ricote, Sikisa and Jordan Gray.
