Ronnie O'Sullivan's Secret Wedding: Parents Absent Amid Family Feud
O'Sullivan's private wedding excluded parents

Snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan has officially married his long-term partner, actress Laila Rouass, in an intensely private ceremony that notably excluded his own parents.

The seven-time World Snooker Champion tied the knot with his on-off girlfriend of 13 years in June 2025 at St George's Town Hall in Shadwell, East London. The event was so minimal that only Rouass' sisters were present to witness the vows, with O'Sullivan opting against having a best man.

A Deliberately Small Affair

Speaking candidly to the Sunday Times, O'Sullivan explained his reasons for the subdued celebration. "I didn't actually have anyone there. I mean, we had Laila's sisters. But we didn't want nothing big. I'm just not into all that stuff. I f***ing hate being the host - I can't stand it," the champion player revealed.

The couple's journey to marriage hasn't been straightforward. They experienced a breakup last year before reconciling in January 2025 and marrying just five months later. Following their union, they've made significant lifestyle changes, having sold their Essex home and relocated to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Embracing a Secluded Lifestyle

O'Sullivan has taken dramatic steps to distance himself from modern distractions. He has completely detached from social media and now uses a basic phone without messaging apps, news applications, or a web browser. Only a select group of friends and family can reach him directly.

"I wish I'd done it before, I might do it every six months," O'Sullivan commented about his digital detox. "I'm not looking to progress my career through networking and that sort of thing. I've got my friends and that's enough. The phone doesn't really add to my life. So it's quite nice, really."

Rouass has followed a similar path, deactivating her Instagram account. However, before doing so, she shared a heartfelt revelation about her health, disclosing that she had been diagnosed with an incurable condition that she described as not life-threatening but emotionally challenging.

Historical Family Tensions Surface

The absence of O'Sullivan's parents from the wedding appears connected to longstanding family issues. Back in 2020, O'Sullivan's sister, Danielle, told The Sun about a toxic feud involving O'Sullivan's mother and Rouass.

According to Danielle, when O'Sullivan asked his mother for £15,000 the previous year, she allegedly responded: "I'm not giving you money for that f*****g s**g!" The sister further claimed their mother had saved Rouass' number in her phone under the name "the revolving f***y" and had referred to her as "just a prostitute - she'll sleep with anyone."

These allegations have never been publicly addressed by O'Sullivan's mother. The snooker champion had been in a relationship with Rouass since 2012, following previous relationships with Sally Magnus and Jo Langley, with whom he shares children.

Despite the personal challenges, O'Sullivan continues his professional career, currently competing in the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship in Saudi Arabia as the World No. 5 ranked player.
