The latest social media craze, the 'Ten Year Challenge', has seen Scottish singer and Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus share a dazzling blast from the past. The 45-year-old revealed that a decade ago, she was treading the boards in a Glasgow pantomime alongside global icon David Hasselhoff.
A Star-Studded Pantomime in Glasgow
McManus took to Instagram on Wednesday, posting nostalgic snaps from the festive season of 2015. The images captured her during the run of Peter Pan at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, which took place from December 12, 2015, to January 3, 2016.
In the vibrant production, David 'The Hoff' Hasselhoff took on the role of the villainous Captain Hook. Michelle McManus starred as Mimi the Mermaid, adorned in a striking bright blue gown and a fiery red wig for the part. The stage was further lit up by the legendary Scottish comedy duo, The Krankies, who also featured in the show.
The photos show a beaming McManus posing with Hasselhoff, who is fully embracing his pirate persona in an extravagant lace-patterned coat, waistcoat, and ruffled shirt, complete with a prominent hook attached to his hand.
Transformation and Triumph: A Journey of Health
This fun throwback comes shortly after Michelle showcased a different kind of transformation. In November, she displayed her remarkable 9st weight loss at the premiere of The Fifth Step in Edinburgh, dressed in a stylish navy coat.
The singer has been open about her personal battles, discussing both her weight loss journey and her path to sobriety. She explained that her incredible physical change, achieved over 17 months, was rooted in a significant mindset shift focusing on self-love and self-worth.
"I was stuck in a cycle, endlessly searching for that elusive magic diet wand," McManus penned in an Instagram post last year. "What I've discovered instead is something even more powerful: the right support." She now regularly shares glimpses of her gym routine with fans, maintaining her healthier lifestyle.
From Panto to Stadium Shows
Michelle McManus's career continues to reach impressive heights. In a standout moment last June, she performed live with Robbie Williams in front of a massive 70,000-strong crowd at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium. She belted out 'Relight My Fire' after receiving a surprise invitation from the star, an experience she described as taking nearly 24 hours to comprehend.
Her recent public appearances also include attending the global screening of David Ireland's play The Fifth Step, starring Jack Lowden and Martin Freeman, highlighting her ongoing presence in the UK's entertainment scene.
From sharing the stage with a Baywatch legend in a Glasgow panto to singing with Robbie Williams at a packed stadium, Michelle McManus's 'Ten Year Challenge' post is a vivid reminder of a dynamic and evolving career, underpinned by profound personal growth.
