Ludwig season 2 has arrived on the BBC. Premiering in 2024, the first series attracted over 9.5 million viewers in 28 days, making it the BBC's biggest scripted series and biggest comedy launch episode.
What is Ludwig about?
The series follows John Taylor, a reclusive puzzle maker who publishes puzzle books under the pen name 'Ludwig'. When his identical twin brother, James Taylor, a successful detective chief inspector in the Cambridge police force, goes missing, John investigates the mystery.
Pretending to be his brother, John infiltrates the local police station to investigate, only to become involved in solving other cases. Joining him is James' wife, Lucy.
How many episodes are in Ludwig season 2?
Season 2 of Ludwig consists of six episodes, with the first three already available on BBC iPlayer. Episode one aired on BBC One on August 20 at 9pm.
Episodes will continue to air every Thursday night at 9pm and will be uploaded to iPlayer accordingly.
What is Ludwig season 2 about?
The plot picks up from the end of the first series. John Ludwig is now employed as a crime scene consultant, working alongside DCI Russell Carter on crimes for the Cambridge Police Authority.
John's identical twin brother, James, is still missing, and the consultant has been banned from using police resources to look for his sibling or uncover what he was investigating. John will not stop, and neither will Lucy, James' wife.
Teasing the new series, star David Mitchell said: "When you watch the second series, you realise there's still quite a lot of obfuscation involved in his role, because not everyone in the police force is entirely on side with his appointment."
He added: "And of course, he's still got to cover up the fact that for a long time he was solving cases while impersonating a police officer. And if that ever gets out, well, five murderers will walk free, and he won't walk free himself."

Fleabag star Sian Clifford and actor Mark Bonnar, who appeared on the first Celebrity Traitors, join the cast as regulars for the new series. The Office legend Stephen Merchant also joins, playing Danny Sloane, who is at odds with John Ludwig.
