All three series of the British sitcom Here We Go, featuring Gavin & Stacey star Alison Steadman, are now available to binge-watch on BBC iPlayer. The show has been praised by viewers as "legitimately funny" and "the best comedy I've seen on the BBC for a while."
What Is Here We Go About?
Created and written by Tom Basden for the BBC, Here We Go chronicles the misadventures of the dysfunctional Jessop family. The pilot episode, titled Pandemonium, aired in December 2020, followed by the first full series in 2022. Two additional series have since been broadcast, and a fourth was commissioned in October 2025.
The show is set in Bedford and filmed from the perspective of teenage son Sam's handheld camera, interspersed with flashbacks to calmer times. This raw, unflinching style captures the family's quirky ups and downs.
Cast and Critical Reception
Alongside Alison Steadman, the cast includes Tom Basden, Jim Howick, Katherine Parkinson, and Tori Allen-Martin. Viewers have heaped praise on the comedy. One IMDb reviewer wrote: "Best comedy I've seen on the BBC for a while, and appealed to all ages in our family, plus had a good amount of laugh out loud moments." Another said: "I have only just discovered this show. Binge watched the latest series because I found it so funny." A third added: "Absolutely brilliant! Each character plays their role so perfectly and the way the episodes are made is such a great concept." A fourth described it as "legitimately funny and full of cringey British humour."
Potential US Remake
It emerged earlier this year that Here We Go could receive a US remake featuring a Hollywood cast. According to Radio Times, comedy legend Amy Poehler's production company Paper Kite is developing an American version. However, US adaptations of British sitcoms have had mixed success; Welcome to Flatch (based on This Country) and Call Me Kat (based on Miranda) were recent disappointments, while The Office and Ghosts proved blockbuster successes.
