Charity Dingle faces a crushing blow in upcoming Emmerdale episodes as the Crown Prosecution Service decides not to proceed with Dr Todd's case due to insufficient evidence. The decision leaves Charity heartbroken after she bravely reported the sexual assault and blackmail to the police.
Dr Todd's Attacks and Aftermath
Recently, sinister Dr Todd sexually assaulted Charity following weeks of blackmail. He had discovered the real biological parentage of baby Leyla, using this knowledge to torment Charity before attacking her. Charity courageously reported Dr Todd to the police and disclosed everything to her husband Mack Boyd, who confronted her at Dr Todd's new workplace.
Soap fans know that Dr Todd will ultimately be killed off after a flashforward episode, but the murderer's identity remains a mystery.
Mack and Vanessa's Plot
Determined not to let Dr Todd escape justice, Mack and Vanessa Woodfield begin scheming together. They believe they might dig up historic complaints at the hospital to expose the menacing doctor. Jacob Sugden also becomes involved after Dr Todd made his life unbearable while he worked as a junior doctor under her, in a hard-hitting workplace bullying storyline.
Vanessa joins forces with Jacob as they arrange a private meeting with HR representative Carol to gather evidence.
New Character Helen Arrives
When Charity discovers what's happening, she arrives to confront Vanessa but instead comes face-to-face with Helen, another of Dr Todd's victims. Initially, Helen is reluctant to open up, but when Charity quietly discloses that Dr Todd raped her, it visibly resonates with a deeply troubled Helen.
The newcomer Helen is portrayed by actress Nicole Evans, best known for roles in Captain America: The First Avenger, Hollyoaks, The Bay, and The Sandman.
