Warwick Davis, who reprises his role as Professor Flitwick in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter television series, has described the show as a 'very faithful adaptation' of J.K. Rowling's books, offering 'more depth and detail' than the original films.
Speaking to Times Radio, the actor said he is currently working on the series but could not reveal further details beyond the show's commitment to retelling the stories with greater nuance. 'They're very faithful adaptations of the book,' he stated.
Davis, who appeared in all eight Harry Potter films, noted the surreal experience of returning to Leavesden Studios, where the movies were shot. 'It's weird being back in the same studios again, doing it all again,' he added.
While Davis reprises his role as Flitwick, Leigh Gill will take over the part of Griphook, a goblin character previously voiced by Davis. The series comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding Rowling's views on transgender rights, with over 400 industry figures signing a letter urging action on trans rights, including Paapa Essiedu, cast as Professor Snape.
