The BBC has confirmed that the second series of the Liverpool-set drama This City Is Ours will premiere on Sunday 25th October, with all episodes available on BBC iPlayer from that date and the series airing on BBC One on Sunday and Monday nights at 9pm.
The first series, launched by the BBC last year, drew 8.3 million viewers for its opening episode and received Bafta TV nominations. Starring Sean Bean, Julie Graham and James Nelson-Joyce, it centres on Liverpudlian crime boss Ronnie Phelan (Bean), whose plan to retire after one last major drug deal triggers a power struggle between his right-hand man Michael Kavanagh (Nelson-Joyce) and Phelan's son Jamie (Jack McMullen).
New trailer and artwork released
After a break of more than a year, the BBC has released a new trailer and artwork for the second series. Fans reacted warmly to the first series, with one writing on Reddit: "It was gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat." Another said: "Overall it was a good crime drama. I'd watch a second season."
New cast members join
Shaun Evans, known for Endeavour and ITV's Betrayal, joins the cast as former gangster Ozzie Thompson, recently out of prison. Álvaro Morte (Money Heist, Immaculate, The Wheel of Time) plays Felipe Guzman, a member of the Colombian cartel and younger brother of Ricardo, who was murdered at the end of the first series.
Returning cast members include Jack McMullen as Jamie Phelan, Mike Noble as Banksey, Julie Graham as Elaine Phelan, widow of murdered gang leader Ronnie, Laura Aikman as Rachel Duffy, Kevin Harvey as Bobby Duffy, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Cheryl Crawford, Darci Shaw as Melissa Sullivan, Adam Abbou as Freddie, and Bobby Schofield as Bonehead.

Michael and Diana have barely arrived in Spain when they are dragged back to answer questions about Ricardo's death. Back in Liverpool, tensions continue among the remaining members of the gang. Meanwhile, an old school gangster from Ronnie's era, recently out of prison, wants compensation from the firm.
