This City Is Ours season 2 on BBC One has revealed that fan-favourite Banksey (Mike Noble) survives the series, after a twist confirmed his apparent death was fabricated. The crime drama returned with all eight episodes available, and viewers have been following Banksey's fate after he murdered gang boss Ricardo Guzman (Daniel Cerqueira) at the end of series one by running him down with his vehicle.
Banksey's fate revealed in series two
At the start of series two, Banksey was visited by Ronnie's (Sean Bean) son Jamie (Jack McMullen) and two associates, one of whom Banksey shot twice in the chest after questioning whether his vest was bulletproof. Jamie warned, "Banksey, this isn't you, lad," to which Banksey replied, "You don't know me, Jay."
Banksey referenced their previous arrangement, accusing Jamie of cutting ties with him. "It gives me the right to put you to bed, the f****** lot of you," he said, before issuing a final threat to Jamie, who chose to leave. This moment hinted at Banksey's eventual destiny.
The fake execution plot
In the third episode, Banksey discussed his planned execution with Michael (James Nelson-Joyce) at the pub, agreeing to risk his life in exchange for Diana's (Hannah Onslow) release from Felipe (Álvaro Morte). Banksey was restrained in the back of Michael's vehicle while Felipe and Diana watched from another location.
Felipe told Banksey: "You should know that my brother Ricardo, he meant nothing to me, nothing. In fact, I disliked him. So if I was with you, I would shake your hand. I'll pray for you." Banksey asked Michael to "take care of my boy for me," and Michael consented before firing at Banksey's chest, leaving Diana stunned as she watched the video recording. Michael then approached the unmoving Banksey and shot him again.
Banksey survives to the finale
In the fourth episode, it was disclosed that Banksey's death had been staged, and he was actually alive. He had been wearing a bulletproof vest during the shooting, similar to the one he had fired at earlier, which saved his life. Michael met Banksey on a beach, where they agreed he would stay off-grid for his safety.
Banksey survives to the conclusion of season two, much to the relief of fans who had believed he was dead. Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to react, with one writing: "Nah can't believe Banksy is gone," while another predicted: "Banksy gonna be in the s*** me thinks." This City Is Ours season 2 is available on BBC iPlayer, with episodes also airing weekly on Sundays and Mondays on BBC One.
