Netflix has confirmed the cast for series three of Guy Ritchie's crime thriller The Gentlemen, with production now underway in the UK and Morocco. Among the new additions are Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom, who previously starred together in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, alongside Robert Carlyle, known for Trainspotting and The Full Monty.
New and returning cast members
Robert Carlyle, recognised for recent roles in Line of Duty and Hack, joins the series. He is accompanied by Hollywood figures Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom, as well as Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and Bugzy Malone.
Returning cast members include Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins and Benjamin Clementine. Maya Jama, who made her debut in the second series as the character Aisha, will also return for series three.
Plot details for the new series
The series follows aristocrat Eddie Halstead, played by Theo James, who inherits his family's estate after his father's death and discovers a cannabis operation on the grounds. In the second series, Eddie embraced the illicit business and sought to expand internationally with Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario, daughter of drug kingpin Bobby Glass, played by Ray Winstone.
An early synopsis for series three states: "In series three, Eddie and Susie embark upon their most audacious project yet: building a casino in the Middle East. But with danger lurking around every corner, has the Duke's unchecked ambition finally gone too far?"
Director's comment and release information
Guy Ritchie said: "The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I'm looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further."
A release date for series three has not yet been announced. The first two seasons are available to stream on Netflix now.
