The 1% Club, hosted by Lee Mack, has left many contestants and viewers baffled with its challenging puzzles. The show starts with easy questions but quickly escalates to a 1% difficulty level, offering a £100,000 prize for those who make it through. Here are five of the toughest questions that have stumped players.
A 40% difficulty question asked: 'Which of these would it be impossible to do?' Options were A) Marry your cousin's cousin, B) Marry your brother's widow, and C) Marry your widow's sister. The correct answer was C, as you cannot marry your widow's sister because you would be dead. This question eliminated 32 contestants, leaving Mack stunned.
Another question, at an unspecified difficulty, showed four mugs on a top shelf with 'HAT', 'LOG', 'OLD', and 'ROW' written on them. Contestants had to choose which mug from 'ALF', 'SUE', 'MEG', or 'BEN' belonged on the top shelf. The answer was ALF, because the mug handles formed a 'C', making the words 'CHAT', 'CLOG', 'COLD', and 'CROW', and 'CALF' fits with ALF. Twenty contestants were eliminated.
A 60% difficulty question broke a record when 39 contestants used passes instead of answering. The question was: 'Which of these is the odd one out in this CONUNDRUM?' Options were CORD, NORM, NOUN, or MOON. The answer was MOON, as it is the only word that cannot be formed from the letters in 'CONUNDRUM'. Only four people answered incorrectly, but 39 passed, a show first.
Another question asked: 'How many eyes can you see in the image below?' showing emojis and letters. Many guessed 22, counting the letter 'i', but the correct answer was 15, as only actual eyes should be counted. This eliminated 30 contestants. Finally, a 10% difficulty question read: 'Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the ? of January.' The answer was 24, as each number corresponds to the word position in the sentence. All contestants failed to answer.
