Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has confirmed she will be absent from the ITV programme for the rest of the week as she takes a half-term break. The 55-year-old was fronting the show on Monday morning (October 26) alongside Richard Madeley.
Reid announces break on air
During the broadcast, the pair discussed a range of topics, including the upcoming budget, as they spoke to Prime Minister Andy Burnham in his first live TV interview. As the show drew to a close, Reid told viewers she would not be appearing until the following week.
She said: "Now, I am off for the rest of the week." Richard wished his co-presenter a pleasant half-term as they both revealed he would be returning to the ITV programme on Tuesday (October 27) alongside Ranvir Singh.
Reid signs off and Richard Arnold returns
Reid added: "Thanks very much indeed for watching. You can catch up with that interview with the Prime Minister on YouTube. Now, though, it's time to join Lorraine. Have a good day."
The news that Reid is stepping away briefly comes as the hosts welcomed Richard Arnold back to the programme after his absence. Last week, ITV audiences saw Rishi Davda present the latest showbiz news instead of Arnold, who typically hosts the section. Arnold revealed he had been away enjoying time with his husband, Stuart, whom he wed at Hackney Town Hall in September.
Arnold reflects on mini-moon
Reflecting on his mini-moon getaway, he said: "It was lovely, we got a mini-moon together, it was wonderful. After 21 years, how do you think it went? A lot of cups of tea, let's put it that way."
Arnold broke the news of his surprise wedding on Instagram, posting a photo of himself and Stuart which showed him dressed in a kilt, later revealed to have been borrowed from the Good Morning Britain wardrobe department. During a chat about the special day with Kate Garraway on the programme, he quipped: "It was a prop for the Edinburgh festival years ago!"
Garraway responded: "So you raided the prop cupboard, didn't mention a word when you were on Friday, went to tell your mum and then got hitched? On a relationship that was 21 years in the making?" Arnold then said: "Yes! We finally got there!"
Arnold went on to express his gratitude to the GMB team, adding: "Thank you very much team for all the love and I do mean that wholeheartedly." Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
