Sugababes join Gogglebox for Channel 4 cancer special

The Sugababes are set to appear on Gogglebox for the first time in a one-off Stand Up To Cancer special, airing this Friday (October 23) at 9pm on Channel 4. The original trio of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy will watch television together from their sofa, joining the regular Gogglebox households for the episode.

Chart-topping trio reunites for the show

The band, known for hits such as About You Now and Push the Button, have reunited their original line-up and are currently working on a new album due for release next year. Their participation was confirmed as Channel 4 unveils celebrity guests throughout the week for the special episode.

In a statement, the group said: "We are so excited to be part of Gogglebox together, a favourite show of ours, made even more special as part of Stand Up to Cancer."

Fans react to the announcement

The announcement has drawn enthusiastic responses from devoted fans. One Gogglebox fan wrote: "THIS IS AMAZING! I'm locked in," while another remarked: "Yass! The original Sugababes line-up! My favourite." A third added: "Icons. Can't wait," as a fourth demanded: "Get them on everything." A fifth penned: "So excited to see it."

Joe Lycett also confirmed for the special

Comedian and The Celebrity Traitors star Joe Lycett will also appear on the programme alongside his aunties Margaret and Pauline. Lycett recently became one of the latest contestants voted out of the BBC competition series in a Round Table banishment, after openly expressing his desire to be recruited by the Traitors, which raised suspicions among his fellow players.

According to Channel 4's synopsis: "Nothing is off limits as Gogglebox continues to celebrate the simple joy of watching television together. They'll be sharing hilarious, honest and often unexpected reactions to the week's biggest television moments as well as poignant stories to raise awareness of Cancer Research UK."

Gogglebox for Stand Up To Cancer airs this Friday (October 23) on Channel 4 at 9pm.
