Strictly's Jaime Winstone out with torn abdominal muscle

Jaime Winstone has been forced to pull out of this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing episode due to injury. The BBC confirmed that the 41-year-old actress has been advised by doctors to rest this week while she recovers from a torn abdominal muscle.

Winstone said she is devastated not to be dancing this weekend but hopes to be back in the ballroom next week.

Winstone's statement on her injury

'I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal,' she said in a statement. 'As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week.'

'I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey. I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far. It means more than you know.'

'Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love and strength for Saturday night, and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime.'

Bye through to next week

As a result, Winstone and her partner Carlos Gu will receive a bye through to next week, when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. The week's rest might be just what the pair need; they have been in the bottom two for the last two weeks.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One this Saturday at 6:30pm.
