Strictly's Graeme Hall in tears after public vote saves him

Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley were saved by the public vote in Strictly Come Dancing's first-ever triple dance-off, leaving the star emotional on air during Sunday's results show.

Hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe returned to present the latest results show on Sunday (November 1), following Saturday night's Halloween Week spectacular, where the judges' scores were added to viewer votes to determine who would take part in the dance-off.

A Historic Triple Dance-Off

For the first time in Strictly history, the Halloween results show featured a triple dance-off. The three couples with the lowest combined scores from the judges and public votes went head-to-head, before each judge revealed which couple they wanted to eliminate.

Despite being at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night, Graeme and Lauren were saved by the public. The Channel 5 star became emotional as he shared how grateful he felt to be saved by the viewers.

Graeme's Emotional Reaction

Speaking to Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe, he said: "Bottom of the leaderboard. I went out and danced the best I could, but, you know, the judges weren't so keen. So, thank you very much at home if you voted for us, you've saved my bacon and I can't thank you enough."

Graeme then choked back tears, as he said: "From the bottom of my heart." Lauren supported her partner as he became emotional.

Looking Ahead to Couple's Choice

Graeme and Lauren will perform their Couple's Choice next week, which will tell a very important story. "I'm really excited about it, actually. We've seen a lot of different sides to Graeme so far. We've had fun Graeme and we've leaned into a lot of characters, but next week, we get the chance to see his softer, tender side."

Graeme added: "Yeah, there's a side that I haven't really told people about. I had a stroke in 2019. I managed to recover fully, but my life changed completely. So, we'll be telling a little bit about that story next week."

Viewer Support and Other Highlights

Viewers were quick to share their support as they watched Graeme become emotional. "Aww. Glad Graeme has survived to dance his couple's choice," one person wrote on X. Another added: "Graeme getting emotional at going through [tearful emoji]." A third said: "Aww bless him, got me teary as he spoke about his stroke."

Elsewhere during Sunday's results show, the professionals performed a Halloween group routine to Dracula by Tame Impala. The episode also featured a musical performance by Becky Hill, accompanied by professional dancers Aleksandra Isaeva and Cristian Priori.

Lacey Turner and Vito Coppola ended Saturday night at the top of the leaderboard after earning 36 points from the judges. Meanwhile, Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita, and Graeme and Lauren found themselves at the other end of the rankings with 25 points each.
