Strictly Star Delta Goodrem dealt blow as rival favourite for Glitterball
Strictly's Delta Goodrem dealt blow in Glitterball race

Delta Goodrem has been dealt a blow in her bid to win Strictly Come Dancing, with bookmakers now making Olympian Tabby Stoecker the favourite to lift the Glitterball Trophy.

Goodrem, who was forced to withdraw from an earlier episode due to a rib injury, is now at odds of 5/1 to win the BBC competition, according to Betway. Stoecker leads the outright betting at 11/8, while former favourite Lacey Turner is priced at 7/4.

Betting Favourite Shift

Speaking on the latest markets, Betway's Lewis Knowles said: "Tabby Stoecker was as big as 12/1 to win the show only a few weeks ago, and the Olympian was a relative outsider, but she has really caught the eye over the last few weeks, and has catapulted herself to the head of our outright betting at 11/8."

He continued, "Former favourite Lacey Turner still has a really solid chance of lifting this year's Glitterball Trophy at 7/4, and the market is suggesting it could be a two-horse race this year, with huge prices available for the majority of the other contestants."

The frontrunner to win has shifted several times since the series began. Dani Dyer was initially the favourite before being overtaken by EastEnders star Lacey Turner.

Elimination Odds

Ahead of Saturday's Halloween special, actress Bethany Antonia has emerged as the 2/1 favourite to be eliminated this weekend. Jaime Winstone, Cach Mercer and Lawrence Robb follow closely in Betway's next elimination betting.

Knowles added: "Bethany Antonia may well be the favourite for elimination going into week six of Strictly Come Dancing, but there wouldn't be much between her, Jaime, Cach and Lawrence in the betting, and all four of them will feel they are at risk of elimination this weekend."

Earlier this month, Goodrem and her dance partner Kai Widdrington had their future thrown into doubt after the Eurovision singer was forced to miss a week due to a rib injury. The pair returned to the dance floor last week, landing their first score of 10 from Anton du Beke, who said: "This is my favourite dance of the series by a million miles. I've got some advice for you moving forward, I would continue to have a rib injury."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
