Strictly's first triple dance-off eliminates Lawrence Robb
Strictly triple dance-off eliminates Lawrence Robb

Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb became the fifth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2026, following the show's first ever triple dance-off during the Halloween special.

On Saturday night (October 31), the three couples with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes had to dance again under the red lights: actress Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, Lawrence Robb and Jowita Przystal, and House Of The Dragon star Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu.

In a change from usual rules, the judges voted to eliminate. After all three couples performed again, Lawrence and Jowita failed to impress and were sent home.

Close scores on the leaderboard

Only four points separated the three couples at the end of Saturday's show. Bethany and Nancy scored 30 for their Jive, while Jaime and Carlos received 27 points for their Salsa. Lawrence and Jowita's Tango received 26 points.

Fans of the Scottish actor had already voiced concerns about his place in the competition ahead of the result show (November 1). Some said the song and dance didn't match, with one viewer writing: "Also feel like he was set up this week. A tango to that song with a Ghostbusters theme is not easy."

Another commented: "I feel like giving this dance with this song was something of a stitch up. He did a lot better than I expected!"

Fan reaction to the performance

Lawrence and Jowita performed their Tango to the Ghostbusters theme tune, surrounded by toxic waste cans, smoke and bright green lights. Some viewers praised the routine, with one fan writing: "Yesss!!! Absolutely loved this!! So good," while another said: "His bed dance yet. I loved it!"

Other fans claimed the dance was undermarked. One person said: "I wish the public would vote to keep him, because the judges are harder on him than on the others, and I felt it dampened his spirit."

With Lawrence's departure, only 10 couples remain. Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday, November 7 at 6:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, where the dance-off will return to normal.
