Strictly judges correct Josh Widdicombe after worm error

Strictly Come Dancing judges had to correct host Josh Widdicombe after he made an awkward error during the show aired on Saturday, October 24. The blunder came in the early moments of the episode as celebrities and their professional partners took to the dancefloor once more.

This week's songs and dance routines were revealed throughout the week on companion series It Takes Two. Unusually, this week does not follow a theme, with couples performing dances including Jive, Argentine Tango and Tango.

Josh's Worm Claim Corrected

New hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe introduced the star pairings. One of the first duos to perform were Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb with Jowita Przystał, dancing a Jive to The Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim. During the routine, Lawrence impressively pulled out the worm.

Afterwards, as they prepared for the judges' comments, Josh said: "Do you know what? I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say that is the first worm of the series, Lawrence." An out of breath Lawrence replied: "I think it might be?" Josh then turned to the judges, repeating "I think it might be" followed by an unusual noise before being promptly corrected.

One of the judges quickly pointed out that professional dancer Julian performed the move during a results show dance-off with Dame Sarah Storey. Josh responded: "Oh, of course."

Fans Spot the Blunder

Fans watching at home were also quick to notice the error. One posted on social media: "Lawrence was the first worm of the series I think NOT Josh." Another pointed out: "Excuse me Josh, Julian did a worm in the dance off last week thank you." Someone else commented on the back and forth, saying: "The judges seem very awkward tonight."

The judges were not completely impressed by Lawrence's performance. Craig Revel Horwood pointed out his mistakes as the others chanted: "Make it end." He also quipped back at Motsi Mabuse, saying: "Thanks for telling me what I've known for 22 years" after she tried to defend the contestant. However, she did tell the actor to 'go back to the dance rehearsal room' and work harder.

Lawrence himself said he agreed with the judges and recognised he made some mistakes. The couple eventually scored a total of 19. Fans can catch up with Strictly Come Dancing on BBC iPlayer.
