Strictly Come Dancing hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe addressed the absence of Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu minutes into the live show on Saturday, November 7, after the actress was forced to pull out due to injury.
The episode marked the halfway point of the competition as the remaining couples took to the ballroom floor in hope of impressing judges Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, as well as viewers at home.
Hosts Share News of Bye
Josh said: "Unfortunately we are missing one couple, Jaime and Carlos. Jaime has been advised not to perform this weekend on medical grounds. Under the rules of the competition she receives a bye through to next week."
Emma added: "Jaime, we know you're watching from home tonight we miss you so much and we're sending you all our love and we hope you get better soon."
Actress's Statement on Injury
Jaime Winstone was forced to miss the show this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. She said: "I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle."
She continued: "I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal. As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week."
Wishes for Recovery
Jaime added: "I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey. I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far."
She concluded: "It means more than you know. Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love and strength for Saturday night and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime."
A BBC spokesperson said: "Due to injury, Jaime Winstone has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, she will not dance in this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing."
They added: "In line with the rules of the show, Jaime and Carlos will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Jaime the very best as she continues her recovery."
