Strictly host corrected by judges over worm claim

Strictly Come Dancing host Josh Widdicombe was corrected by a judge during Saturday's show after he claimed a contestant had performed the first worm of the series. The moment came as Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb and his partner Jowita Przystał awaited feedback on their Jive to The Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim, during which Lawrence executed the worm.

Host's Claim Quickly Corrected

As the couple stood before the panel, Josh remarked: "Do you know what? I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say that is the first worm of the series, Lawrence." A breathless Lawrence responded: "I think it might be?"

Josh then turned to the judges and repeated "I think it might be" with an odd sound before being swiftly corrected. One of the judges pointed out that professional dancer Julian had already performed the manoeuvre during a results programme dance-off with Dame Sarah Storey. Josh acknowledged: "Oh, of course."

Viewers Also Spotted the Error

Home viewers were quick to notice the mistake too. One wrote on social media: "Lawrence was the first worm of the series I think NOT Josh." Another highlighted: "Excuse me Josh, Julian did a worm in the dance off last week thank you." A third remarked: "The judges seem very awkward tonight."

The panel were not entirely impressed by Lawrence's routine. Craig Revel Horwood drew attention to his errors while the others declared: "Make it end." He also responded sharply to Motsi Mabuse, saying: "Thanks for telling me what I've known for 22 years" after she tried to support the contestant. Nevertheless, she advised the actor to "go back to the dance rehearsal room" and put in greater effort. Lawrence agreed with the panel and accepted he had made mistakes. The pair received a combined score of 19.
