Strictly Come Dancing viewers reacted with frustration after Emma Willis announced a three-couple dance-off during Halloween Week on BBC One.
On Saturday night's Halloween Special (October 31), the remaining contestants delivered spine-chilling themed performances. As presenters Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe took to the stage, Emma announced a significant format modification, revealing this weekend's dance-off would be the first to include three couples.
Making the announcement during the broadcast, Emma stated: "There is a three way dance off on the horizon and you're vote has never mattered more."
Viewers React to the Twist
It wasn't long before people took to X to share their thoughts on the change, with many unimpressed by the twist, while others criticised how frequently the announcement was repeated.
Someone commented: "Why exactly do we need three couples in the dance-off? Let's stop the X Factor-style twists, shall we?" Another shared: "Anyone doing a shot every time they mention the three-way dance-off??" One person wrote: "I mean what is the point of this three person dance off???"
Someone else added: "It's going to be weird having three in the dance off!" One fan questioned: "I don't get what the point of a three person dance off is??" As another shared: "There is NO double elimination otherwise there wouldn't be a 4 couple final so this twist feels pointless."
