Strictly Come Dancing fans have criticised the judges for handing 'evil' scores to one couple, who are now tipped to 'face the dance off'. During week five of the BBC contest, broadcast on Saturday (October 24), the remaining couples performed in a bid to impress the panel.
Actor Lawrence Robb, known for playing Mackenzie Boyd in Emmerdale, had been labelled a 'dark horse' by viewers after his Icons Week routine earned him his highest score yet of 30 points. Anton Du Beke had told him to 'not perform any less than that from now', praising his improvement. This week, however, his marks fell sharply.
Jive to Fatboy Slim ends in low marks
Lawrence and his professional partner Jowita Przystał danced a Jive to The Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim. Craig Revel Horwood noted errors, saying: "I would have liked to have seen a much better Jive, you were completely out of time at the beginning." Shirley Ballas added: "I have to agree with Craig, we're in week five now and you've got the potential but you can't be making too many mistakes."
The couple received a 4 from Craig, a 5 from Motsi Mabuse, a 4 from Shirley and a 6 from Anton, totalling 19 out of 40.
Viewers call scores 'evil' and 'harsh'
On X, @lucymaygoodwin wrote: "Might actually vote for Lawrence you know those scores were evil #strictly." @Ryan_MonkeyUK said: "That was ridiculously harsh on Lawrence. Zero need to humiliate someone like that. He will get my vote because of it. #strictly." @liamdoc95 commented: "4s for Lawrence is very harsh- I thought the dance was good #strictly," while @notjanpeteh agreed: "Sorry but 19 for lawrence and jowita is way harsh #strictly."
Several fans predicted a dance off appearance. @xxncisaddictxx wrote: "Second dance in and already a contender for the dance off #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing." @jfield03 said: "Lawrence will be in the dance off. #strictly," and @Steph832 added: "For someone who has dance experience Lawrence is really bad. I think he might end up in the dance off. #Strictly."
