Strictly Come Dancing viewers have said they feel sad for Cach Mercer and are pleading for a change to be made. The 12 remaining celebrities and their professional dance partners performed on Saturday (October 24) for week five of the BBC dance competition.
Leaderboard and scores
At the top of the leaderboard were Tabby and Mark, who performed a couple's choice to Stupid Song by Olivia Rodrigo and landed a score of 37. At the bottom of the table were Shaun and Alexis, who earned a score of 17 after performing a Jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder ft. Ariana Grande.
Third from the bottom were Cach and Maddie, who were given a score of 24 from the judges for their Cha Cha to Beggin' by Måneskin. After their performance, the judges picked up on Cach's mistakes and failure to stick to the dance style.
Viewers call for change
Fans of the show are not happy with the judges' remarks, believing the blame falls on pro dancer Maddie and that she should be pulled up on her choreography.
Taking to X, one viewer @LivvyHammond said: "Cach gets berated by these judges every week and you can see his confidence slipping more and more each time. Makes me so sad because he is SO talented and has such potential #Strictly."
@ollieollieGA wrote: "I actually feel SO sad for Cach, it’s not his fault the choreography of the dance?!? #Strictly," as @notjanpeteh said: "Nothing against maddie, but I think cach would thrive with a more seasoned pro #strictly."
Fans suggest guidance for pros
@michellepryde said: "Also I like Cach - I 100% feel we would have a different story if he was partnered with someone else. He cannot keep on getting through when he isn’t even doing the basics of the dance #Strictly."
@lauraliz29 suggested: "I think backstage they need to have a chat with Maddie and other choreographers. Cach is getting all the heat and it’s not his fault what he’s taught to dance #strictly #strictlycomedancing."
@Valnoon13 wrote: "I do think if they see a pro struggling to get to grips with choreographing in their first year the show should help/guide them on the right track. It's a bit unfair to cach #strictly."
