Rylan Clark has addressed reports that he was in the running to host BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, confirming he was considered but ultimately passed over. The This Morning star took to Instagram to share his disappointment, posting a tearful video alongside a heartfelt message.

In his post, Rylan wrote: 'Just wanted to say as it was reported that I was in 'The Race' for Strictly, the biggest congrats to my Emma and equal congrats to Johannes and Josh. You're all going to have the best time. Made uo for you's.' He added: 'This wasn't my time, sadly, but am extremely grateful to even have been considered.'

The emotional post was accompanied by a clip of Rylan sobbing uncontrollably on the floor, originally from his time on The X Factor. In the comments, he clarified: 'Let’s keep this what it is. A genuine happiness for the three of them.'

The BBC announced on Tuesday that Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe will take over as hosts in a major shake-up. For the first time, the show will feature three hosts instead of two. BBC chief content officer Kate Phillips praised the trio's 'undeniable chemistry' and said they were chosen after a tough selection process.
