BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent has shared exclusive behind-the-scenes footage showing her morning preparation for the show, prompting an outpouring of support from fans.
Nugent, 55, has been part of the BBC Breakfast team for the past five years, after taking over from Louise Minchin when she stepped down from the BBC show. In the footage, shared on Instagram as part of the broadcaster's This Is Our BBC initiative, she is seen heading into work while it is still dark outside, going through notes on her phone before discussing the headlines with co-star Jon Kay.
'Really crucial' car journey
In a voiceover, Nugent detailed the crucial part of her morning and the pressures that come with ensuring the news they are delivering is correct. She said: "That car journey into work is really crucial, I have half an hour in the dark, everyone else is asleep, and I can go through the notes that the team have prepared through the night."
She continued: "I was out on the road as a reporter for many, many years, so I know the pressure to make sure we get everything absolutely right. I ask the questions on behalf of the people at home. We hear the answers, then the people at home can make up their own minds."
Fans react to behind-the-scenes access
It did not take long for admirers to flood the comments section, with countless fans delighted by the exclusive access and applauding Nugent's contribution to the BBC programme. One person said: "Fab to see behind the scenes! It's so much more than what we see on screen...always vvv proud of you and your work!" Another penned: "This is great to see the start of your day. You have such a pivotal role! Your genuine interest is a pleasure to listen to and watch."
Meanwhile, another follower remarked: "A great snapshot of the work and dedication that goes into making."
Nina Warhurst also shares her routine
Nugent was not the only familiar face offering a behind-the-scenes look at their job, as Nina Warhurst also provided a sneak peek into her preparations for delivering the news to BBC viewers. In her video, she noted: "It's our job to gather the facts from as many different sources and to pull them together and present them in a way that is fair that does everybody justice."
She added: "Trust becomes more important when there's a crisis, we are willing to wait until we know what we are telling our audiences is right and it is accurate." BBC Breakfast is available to watch weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
