Sadie Sink Hints Spider-Man 4 Role Isn't Jean Grey: 'Hair Colour Can Change'
Sadie Sink casts doubt on Spider-Man fan theories

Sadie Sink, the celebrated star of Stranger Things, has playfully hinted that widespread fan theories about her upcoming role in the next Spider-Man film could be entirely off the mark. The actor specifically addressed speculation linking her character to her natural red hair, reminding enthusiasts that 'hair colour can change'.

Addressing the Marvel Speculation

In a new interview, the 23-year-old actor discussed the intense online detective work surrounding her part in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Her casting was first reported by Deadline in March, confirming she would join Tom Holland's Peter Parker in the fourth instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series.

Marvel Studios has maintained complete secrecy about who Sink will portray. This silence has fuelled countless theories, largely pieced together from set photos where the actor was seen in a bulky costume with her distinctive red hair visible. However, Sink told Entertainment Weekly that fans might be reading too much into her appearance.

"A lot of people forget that hair colour can change, but yeah, I understand all of the theories," Sink remarked. She added, "People will just have to wait and see. I'm excited for all of it to maybe be put to rest."

Popular Theories and Future Projects

One of the most persistent rumours suggests Sink is playing the powerful telekinetic mutant, Jean Grey, a character previously brought to life by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner in the X-Men films. Intriguingly, Sink revealed this particular theory began circulating before she had even signed onto the project.

"That was happening before I even knew that I would be working on this project," the actor said. "I was like, 'Wait! What are people talking about?'"

Other popular guesses from the comic book community include Rachel Cole-Alves, an ally of The Punisher, or Firestar, an X-Men member with strong ties to Spider-Man in animated adaptations. Some fans have also proposed she could be playing Felicia Hardy, also known as the anti-heroine Black Cat.

Beyond her debut in Spider-Man 4, it is reported that Sink will reprise her Marvel character in the upcoming ensemble film Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled to begin filming next year.

A Thriving Career Beyond the MCU

Alongside her leap into the superhero genre, Sadie Sink is also preparing for a significant return to her theatrical roots. She is set to make her West End debut in London next spring, starring opposite Noah Jupe in Robert Icke's production of Romeo & Juliet.

Sink's career began on Broadway in the musical Annie. Her stage work continues to earn critical acclaim; earlier this year, she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in John Proctor is the Villain.

She also recently opened up about the emotional experience of filming her final scenes for the last season of Stranger Things, a role that shot her to global fame. She likened the process to "saying goodbye to your childhood," describing it as an awful and deeply emotional experience.

Looking to the future, Sink discussed her foray into producing for the first time on the film adaptation of John Proctor Is The Villain. She emphasised that she is approaching this new venture with a desire to learn and contribute meaningfully, not just to have her name attached to a project.
