Ross Kemp became the latest celebrity to leave Celebrity Traitors after being killed in plain sight by Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster. The EastEnders star fell victim to the scheme in Thursday's (October 22) episode, just minutes after the previous instalment ended on a cliffhanger.
How the plain sight killing unfolded
Last Friday's (October 16) episode had concluded with the trio of Traitors - Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny - tasked with murdering one of the Faithfuls. Armed with a mysterious powder, they were instructed to spray it into a room before convincing an unsuspecting participant to yawn, with Ross Kemp and Jerry Hall both falling into the trap.
The mission was simple: trigger another player to yawn, then ask "am I boring you?" while avoiding suspicion. Maya and James yawned repeatedly to entice Ross, Jerry or any other unwitting Faithful to follow suit and face an early elimination.
Ross Kemp's reaction to elimination
Within minutes of Thursday's episode, it emerged that Ross had yawned first while alongside Maya and James, making him the most recent celebrity to depart the castle after being killed in plain sight.
Upon learning of his elimination, Ross told the camera: "I was really sensitive to people coming close to me; could have been a cheers, could have been anything." He added: "There's a great line from Shakespeare, I think it's Polonius's advice to his son: 'To thine own self be true,' and I have been true to myself, and I have been true to the Faithfuls."
He then quipped: "Well played, Traitors, but you're always going to be Traitors, and I know where you live."
Fans react to Ross Kemp's departure
Fans were left emotional following Ross's departure, with one person posting on X: "Noooo! Ross! #CelebrityTraitors." A second declared: "ROSS NO. ROSS", accompanied by multiple crying face emojis. A third contributed: "ROSS (crying face) #CelebrityTraitors", as another viewer confessed: "I'm gutted for Ross, his worst nightmare came true lmfao #TheTraitors #CelebrityTraitors."
One person exclaimed "Ross #CelebrityTraitors" while sharing crying face emojis, and another responded in disbelief: "Bog off! Kemp! Nah!"
Celebrity Traitors airs on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
