Robson Green Reveals Favourite Northumberland Pub

Robson Green has revealed The Black Swan in Seahouses as his favourite Northumberland pub, a place he has frequented since childhood. The actor shared his fondness for the coastal village venue ahead of the BBC debut of his new drama series, The Northumbria Mysteries.

Filming Across Northumberland

The eight-part series was shot across various towns and villages in Northumberland during the spring and summer. Filming locations included Alnwick, Morpeth and Rothbury, with Robson joined by co-stars Liz White, Gurjeet Singh and Simon Callow.

Robson, known for his role in Soldier Soldier, plays Joe Ruby, a former criminal who becomes involved in murder investigations while taking part in a community rehabilitation programme.

Premiere and Personal Favourites

On Thursday night, the cast and crew attended a red carpet premiere at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle city centre. Look North host Carol Malia chaired a Q&A session following the exclusive screening of the first episode.

Before the event, Robson spoke to ChronicleLive about the show and his favourite places in Northumberland. He admitted to having had "too much fish and chips" from his preferred chippy, Neptune in Seahouses, and also mentioned The Black Swan pub nearby, saying he had been "going since a kid" and remained a big fan of its food.

The Black Swan's Accolades

The Black Swan, built in 1833, was named North East Pub of the Year and won at the National Pub and Bar Awards last year. The pub is known for its gastro-style menu featuring locally caught seafood, some of the region's finest cocktails, and views over the North Sea and Farne Islands.

The Northumbria Mysteries launches on BBC One on Friday, October 23 at 2pm, with episodes airing on consecutive Fridays for the following two months. Episodes will also be released on iPlayer in blocks of four.
