The new Robin Hood series on MGM+ has captured viewers' imaginations, with its young cast generating significant buzz and fans eagerly awaiting each new episode. In an exclusive interview, stars Jack Patten and Lauren McQueen have opened up about their hopes for the show's future and what viewers can expect from the first season's conclusion.
Cast Enthusiasm for a Second Season
Lauren McQueen, who portrays Maid Marian in the adventure series, confirmed she would "definitely" return if the show is renewed for another season. She teased that the ending leaves plenty of room for development, stating: "I think the season ends quite interestingly for every single character."
McQueen emphasised the cast's dedication to making the first season as strong as possible, while also praising the ensemble's chemistry. "We were just like a big family at the end and I think you can really see that energy on screen," she revealed, highlighting the talented young cast that includes newcomers audiences are excited to discover.
Her co-star Jack Patten, who takes on his first major television role as the titular hero, echoed her enthusiasm. "We would love to do a season two," Patten stated. "That would be awesome. Jonathan [English] and John [Glenn] just wrote awesome characters. As actors we love an arc, you can't ask for much more."
Critical Acclaim and Fan Response
The series has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from audiences since it began airing weekly episodes. One viewer, Chris Grimwood, declared it "a 10/10" in a Google review, praising both the graphics and casting decisions.
Other fans have appreciated the fresh approach to the classic tale. Joshua Harmon described it as "a breath of fresh air," while Tijesunimi Davies noted "an exciting twist to a childhood favourite tale."
Aydee Man's review highlighted the mature tone of the series, distinguishing it from previous adaptations: "This is most certainly a grown up's Robin Hood and not a light men in tights type romp. There's not much merrymaking so far but the first three episodes provide plenty of action, romance, Game of Thrones type political intrigue and sex and nudity among the upper classes."
What's Next for Robin Hood?
The first season will consist of 10 episodes, building toward what McQueen describes as an intriguing conclusion for all characters. The grand finale is scheduled for December 28, giving viewers just over a month to see how the story unfolds.
With such strong fan support and enthusiastic leads, the future looks promising for this fresh take on the legendary outlaw. The cast's clear passion for their roles and the positive critical reception suggest this Robin Hood may be drawing his bow on MGM+ for some time to come.
