The BBC has confirmed that the third series of Return to Paradise will air from Friday, November 6 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The announcement was made on Morning Live by OJ Borg, who revealed the return date during a segment about the crime drama.
Return to Paradise, a spin-off of Death in Paradise, first aired in 2024. The series follows DI Mackenzie Clarke, played by Anna Samson, who leaves her life in London to return to her hometown of Dolphin Cove in Australia. Having fled six years earlier, leaving her ex-fiancée at the altar, she receives a cold welcome. She reluctantly joins the team at Dolphin Cove Police Station and gradually wins over her colleagues while solving cases.
Fans react to the first-look trailer
The second series ended in late 2025, and a teaser trailer for the new series was released this month. The trailer shows DI Mackenzie's mother making an unexpected arrival in Dolphin Cove. Fans have shared their excitement in the comments, with one writing: "Omg yesssss!!! So excited for the new season. Looks so amazing, I just know I'm going to absolutely love it!" Another fan commented: "Hell Yes. Mac is back, and I hope she will find some love in this season. Can't wait till the moment BBC airs this."
OJ Borg on the show's appeal
Speaking on Morning Live, OJ Borg described the series as "an updated version of Home and Away," noting the sunny beaches and upbeat tone, but added: "Well, obviously, there's crime here." He also highlighted that Mackenzie is "the first female DI in the Death in Paradise series or the Death franchise."
Morning Live continues weekdays on BBC One from 9:30am. Return to Paradise airs Friday, November 6 on BBC One.
