Prince William's love for Slow Horses revealed by Gary Oldman

Prince William has spoken openly about his love for the Apple TV spy drama Slow Horses, and star Sir Gary Oldman has revealed how deep the royal's connection to the series runs.

A Royal Connection to the Set

Speaking to the Mail's Richard Eden, Sir Gary said the production borrowed a "very fancy expensive house" in London while filming the latest series. The actor recalled: "The people there were friends of Prince William."

He remembered how the house's owner told him: "Oh, I just got a text from Prince William. He says hi!" Sir Gary went on to admit: "I have a strange world."

The Show's Appeal and Accolades

Slow Horses boasts an impressive IMDB score of 8.4. The show focuses on Slough House, a banishment room for MI5 service rejects who have seriously failed - but not badly enough to be replaced.

Those consigned there are known as "slow horses", a play on the name of the place where they work. The boss, Sir Gary's character Jackson Lamb, anticipates workers will either leave out of boredom or frustration.

The series has been renewed for a seventh and eighth season, and it has received critical acclaim along with a number of awards.

A Memorable Encounter

Prince William once made a brutally honest remark to the Oscar-winner, who won his gong for his portrayal of Sir Winston Churchill in the movie Darkest Hour. He told the actor: "I just want to give you a good wash."

The pair met when the Prince of Wales presented the veteran actor with a knighthood at Windsor Castle for his contribution to drama. The filmmaker, who has won three BAFTAs and one Golden Globe, said: "It was William who said to me, 'Every time you come on the screen, I just want to give you a good wash'."

It recently emerged that William and his wife are also big fans of The Celebrity Traitors, with the second series wrapping on Friday (October 30). Speaking on Palace Confidential on YouTube, Daily Mail royal editor Rebecca English revealed: "Now, William and Catherine are massive Traitors fans. I can tell you that now. They love the programme. Absolutely glued to it."

The series sees a group of celebrities compete in a game of deception, with a select few secretly chosen as traitors who must deceive their fellow contestants - known as faithfuls - while avoiding detection. After a tense finale, two faithfuls - comedian Romesh Ranganathan and actor Sebastian 'Bash' Croft - were crowned the winners.
