Prince William made his debut appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night, and royal fans were quick to notice his sense of humour. The 44-year-old's appearance was announced just days before the episode aired, making him the first royal to feature on the popular BBC programme.
Earthshot Prize Promotion
During the show, William showcased his Earthshot Prize, his annual environmental award. He was joined by stars Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin and Hannah Waddingham, all of whom have been involved with the initiative.
In a candid conversation, the Prince of Wales discussed how he unwinds from his royal duties, revealing his passion for films. He said: "It is music and film. I love getting immersed in deep-thinking films. I like action films too, but I like something a bit different. I'm a big fan of everything Christopher Nolan does."
He added: "His films are fantastic – The Dark Knight series is psychologically dark and deep, and I absolutely love that. He takes concepts that are completely out there and makes them incredibly entertaining."
Dream Jobs Revealed
In a clip shared on the show's Instagram story, William was asked whether he had ever wanted a different career. He surprised the audience by admitting he had, revealing his childhood ambition to become a policeman and later a DJ.
He said: "I did want to be a policeman when I was younger; I thought I could make a good one. And then I went through a phase of wanting to be a DJ – I wasn't very good."
The audience could be heard laughing, prompting royal fans to take to X to praise the prince's humour. One fan commented: "Prince William is articulate, funny and an intelligent decent man," while another wrote: "Prince William is pretty funny and bet he would look good in a police uniform."
Family Favourites
William also shared that his family, including his two youngest children, are big fans of the latest series of Celebrity Traitors. He told the host: "I love it, the family love it. Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It's really good telly."
He recounted an encounter with one of the show's stars, saying: "I saw Ross Kemp the day after the first episode and I couldn't help but try – in the most appropriate way – to touch him to see what reaction I got from him. Turns out he was really jumpy!"
