Prince William Surprises Fans on Graham Norton Show with Earthshot Chat
Prince William Surprises on Graham Norton Show

The Prince of Wales made a surprise appearance on The Graham Norton Show, marking his first time on the chatshow, in a special edition dedicated to his Earthshot Prize.

The pre-recorded episode, set to air on Friday on BBC One, features William alongside actors Cate Blanchett and Hannah Waddingham, and environmentalist Robert Irwin, all connected to the environmental initiative founded by William in 2020.

Family's Love for Celebrity Traitors

During the show, William revealed his family's enthusiasm for the BBC series The Celebrity Traitors, saying: "I love it, the family love it. Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It's really good telly."

He also joked about EastEnders star Ross Kemp's fear of being "murdered by touch" on the show, recounting an encounter after the first episode: "I saw Ross Kemp the day after the first episode and I couldn't help but try – in the most appropriate way – to touch him to see what reaction I got from him. Turns out he was really jumpy!"

Earthshot Prize Promotion

The special edition aims to promote the Earthshot Prize, whose annual awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Mumbai, India, next month. William explained the origins of the prize, saying: "For many years I was hearing stories about environment issues, and one thing that struck me was the negativity and doom, which got me down."

He added: "I thought we could do something more powerful and more optimistic and the idea of an awards' ceremony came about and we could talk about urgency and optimism together. It's all about getting excited."

Personal Preferences

William also shared how he unwinds through music and film, expressing particular admiration for director Christopher Nolan: "I love getting immersed in deep-thinking films. I like action films too, but I like something a bit different. I'm a big fan of everything Christopher Nolan does. His films are fantastic – The Dark Knight series is psychologically dark and deep and I absolutely love that."

He added: "He takes concepts that are completely out there and makes them incredibly entertaining."
